I’m pulling back the curtain

Every journey is a journey of learning, of growth. Mine is no different.

Many moons ago I remember sitting in a middle school career fair in front of a veterinarian. I thought I wanted to be a vet. While sitting in that room, I came to the conclusion that I didn’t have what it takes to be a vet. I didn’t have the strength.

I walked into the accountant’s room next. This felt comfortable. It felt safe.

With a focused mind I pursued a career in accounting. I was good at it. I really was. I graduated in the top 10 of CGA’s in my graduating year and climbed a corporate ladder on my hard work and results.

Then one day I wanted out. I didn’t know what I wanted but I wanted out. My husband gave me the out. He bought a second business and offered me a chance to leave corporate life and join him. On the day I was to resign, I was offered a promotion. Life is funny that way. I think now it was a test. Not sure if I passed or not, not even sure if there was a right or wrong answer. However, I took an Easter weekend to think about it and the following Monday I resigned. I was now an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur in title only. My mindset had not caught up.

The next number of years were challenging. I’ll blog about some of them one day. For the purposes of this blog post…those years were all about growth. They helped shape me into the person I am today. I remember feeling like a failure as a business owner. I remember thinking I didn’t have what it took to be an entrepreneur. I wasn’t strong enough. I remember running away and going back to the corporate world. Shortly realizing that running away wasn’t the solution. I eventually found my way back to the entrepreneur world but struggled because I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Along the journey I gave myself a name… or maybe my husband did. Relationship Marketing Ninja. It was meant to be a business to help people focus on doing business based on appreciation. I had some success but not enough to replace my corporate income.

Then at the end of 2018, I attended a weekend course to upgrade my skills. It was an intro course into NLP (Nero Linguistic programming). By this point, I had been introduced to the unconscious mind. Yet at that weekend, my mind was expanded and I was hooked. Before I left that weekend, I signed up for the week long practitioner training. I had no intention of being a practitioner. My sole reason was to learn this skill and use it to help grow my business and my husband’s business. At the end of the week-long course, I signed up for the two-week master practitioner training. Again not because I wanted to be a coach. Because I wanted to learn advanced skills and techniques. I wanted to be a better business owner. Simply that.

If you are reading this and you are a friend or even a family member, did you know about this? I never talked about it. I would come home and talk my husband’s ear off but outside of our home, I’m not sure I did. I was still reconciling, the logically based accountant with the newfound interest in the power of our unconscious mind.

By the end of May 2019, my world had shifted. I finished off weeks of the most powerful, life changing training, my grandmother in law was admitted into the hospital and stayed there for the next month for what we now know was shingles (at the time we thought she had a stroke). All while Shawn was dealing with one of the worst cybersecurity attacks we had seen. There wasn’t time to process all that happened or even comprehend what I wanted to do with it. In fact, I was running some very big, old programming that would plague me for a while yet.

When the dust settled, I started to look at my little company and want more. It had more to give. I have more to give. With my new tools, with my new way of looking at things, I knew I could make a difference.

Slowly with the help of kick-ass people like my husband, a fellow grad (Jen – you know who you are) I started to create a plan. Relationship Marketing Ninja expanded. By the time the pandemic hit, I had a new website, I was blogging and launched my first accountability group. I had signed up for further training and was going to launch a training course.

However, I wasn’t going to be a coach. Nope. I was going to be a trainer and a mentor. If someone needed coaching, I would just refer them to one of my fellow grads. I remember sitting and talking to my husband about his coach. Telling him that if his coach was trained the way I was, he could help get so much more success. Yet, I wasn’t going to be a coach. Why? I wasn’t strong enough to be a coach.

If you don’t see the similarities to the story I told myself about being a vet, and about being a failed entrepreneur…you missed it. This was a limiting belief and it has been holding me back from every dream I’ve ever had. I also realized that the name Relationship Marketing Ninja was holding me back. It was confusing people about what I did and who I was striving to help. But I resisted every suggestion to change it. Finally, I saw the light.

This brings me to today. I pulling back the curtain. I am a Master Practitioner Trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Time Line Therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming Coach. I am upgrading my skills to be trained in Evolved NLP and Quantum Time Release and more. I am launching my second accountability group, my 12-week course to help struggling entrepreneurs and my coaching practice. Yes… you read that correctly. I am strong enough to be a coach. I have strong business, productivity and process skills. Combined with NLP coaching, I am an awesome coach. My target client is the once rock star employee who has left the corporate world and is now a business owner. As a business owner, they feel like a failure. I don’t want anyone to go through the journey I went through. If I can help you get to the other side in less than time than I… let’s do it.

New, strong beginnings call for a fresh face.
